RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE splits. RAGE frontman Zach De La Rocha has left the band, according to MTV. The singer is eager to pursue a solo album-- one of the factors that led to the cancellation of the RAGE/BEASTIE BOYS Rhyme & Reason Tour. The remaining members of RAGE have pledged to keep playing, with no word yet on whether they will keep the band's name.

Managing anger with LIMP BIZKIT and PAPA ROACH. This tour's got more edge than a razor. MTV reports that EMINEM, LIMP BIZKIT, PAPA ROACH, and XZIBIT have embarked on the Anger Management Tour. The tour kicked off last Thursday in New Jersey and continues on through the end of November.

What's new with REM. Spin reports that the Georgia natives sprung a surprise performance on their hometown of Athens, joining in the city's Land Aid Festival. Their set started with Michael Stipe previewing a new song, accompanied only by a boombox. His bandmates joined him for several songs and rallying. Look for REM's new album this Spring.
